THE ARTS MEDIA RESOURCE CENTER provides curriculum resources for all District art and music specialists, which they are able to access through school mail. Artboxes and Musicboxes are traveling suitcases which contain art objects, instruments, CDs and tapes, curriculum integration materials and lesson plans, and present the arts and culture of countries across the globe. Artpaks are slides and curriculum activities on loan to the District from the Tampa Museum of Art, and present the works of artists from the Classical Past to the Contemporary Present. The Arts Media Resource Center also contains arts- and music-related videos, books, CD's and tapes. Included here is the Arts Media Resource Center Catalog and instructions for ordering.


Artboxes

An Artbox is a "lesson in a box" about a specific culture or geographic location. All Artboxes include objects, (artifacts and/or actual works of art or reproductions), coupled with a teacher resource guide.Many of the objects are on loan from the Tampa Museum of Art. Objects on loan from the Museum are identified in this catalog by (TMA) after the listing.

The teacher resource guides were developed with a focus on the Sunshine State Standards and Benchmarks for Visual Arts. Each guide provides a cultural and historical perspective for the featured objects as well as lesson ideas and a list of related student literature and correlated music curriculum. A glossary accompanied by laminated vocabulary cards is also included.

In addition, each Artbox also contains some or all of the following: related visuals, videos, musical recordings, a time line, internet websites, maps, resource books, pamphlets, and children's literature.

 


Art Packs

Artpaks are designed to introduce students to important artists and/or artistic movements and styles in the history of art. Each Artpak contains a set of slides and a teacher guide that contains a slide list, supportive information and suggested activities.

These Artpaks were developed by the Education Department of the Tampa Museum of Art with ongoing support from Las Damas de Arte.

 


Videos

The Arts Media Resource Center has a wide range of videos available for check-out. These videos are divided into two categories: Teacher Resource and Student Resource.

Teacher resource videos are of a professional development or instructional nature. The call number for all teacher resource videos begins with TV.

Student resource videos may be shown to your students, however, you must preview all student resource videos to ensure appropriateness for your particular students. The call number for all student resource videos begins with SR.

 


Curriculum Guides

The Art Curriculum Guides contain slides and correlating lessons. The guides were developed for use by classroom teachers as well as art specialists, and are part of the Hillsborough County Elementary Art Curriculum.

The Art Curriculum Guides were developed by the Arts Council of Hillsborough County in collaboration with Hillsborough County Schools, University of South Florida and the Tampa Museum of Art.

 


Music Boxes

Music Curriculum Resource Kits

Music Curriculum Resource Kits contain books, visuals, recordings, a teachers guide and corresponding lessons on a specific topic.

The Music Curriculum Resource Kits were developed by the Hillsborough County Schools in collaboration with the Sigma Alpha Iota, Women's Music Council.

 


Interactive Resources

Interactive Resources may contain slides, cd's, books, corresponding audio/video and a myriad of other resources.

 


Compact Disks - Music

Musical recordings relevant to elementary music curriculum.


Books

The books in this collection are primarily art resources. Types available are: individual artists, art history references, dictionaries and project oriented.
